my eldest sister arrived last tuesday night from the US to spend christmas here (will be flying back before new year). she's not the type who would bring home dozens of pasalubongs but she wouldn't refuse our pabilis, given that there's still space in her luggage.

last time she went home two years ago, i asked her to buy me my iRiver H340. i paid only half of the price, the other half was her birthday and christmas gift to me.

this year i asked her to buy me 5 books and Dishwalla's self titled album.

yey yey yey! this is considered pabili. as pasalubong, she got me a really cool shirt. as xmas gift, we went to the mall this morning and told me she would pay for any item of clothing that i choose. yehey! sayang nga lang, i already bought what i'll be wearing for the xmas party. pero ok lang, i asked her to buy me another shirt! yehey! happy bunso, ngayon ko na feeling na spoiled brat ako! whee! Ü

speaking of books, CALLING ALL BOOKWORMS! check out this cool site: Library Thing. then check out its utility called the Unsuggester. it says how unlikely people who own one book will own another.

ate ces bought the new Sony Ericsson W710i this morning also. it's a great phone, though the picture quality is not that sharp, unlike the K series phones, or the Nokia phones. but she doesn't care, pang jogging nya yon eh! hehehe! Ü inggit! i want my Samsung D830 na! Ü

just got home this morning, around 5am, from HSBC's relief operations in Bicol. aching muscles, slightly sunburnt, no sleep for 2 days, sore from the 24 hour trip (12 hours to, 12 hours back)... but feeling very very fulfilled. more on that next time. i'm still woozy from lack of sleep. and besides, i'm still waiting for the official pictures. will just insert a pic that i took from my phone.

taxi cabs, etc

finally done with my christmas shopping! even if it's a weekday and during work hours, malls are still crammed with shoppers! pare pareho ata kami naka leave. oh well! then i thought 4:30 pm was still early to easily get a cab, but wtf?! ang daming nagaabang, parang rush hour na! kenes! i got one at 6750, less people. which brings me to my next story...

on my way home from the mall, we're by the stoplight of Pasong Tamo-Vito Cruz Ext intersection. it's actually a fork, so if you're coming from Metropolitan Ave, "straight ahead" means you turn left less than 45 degrees. cab driver asked me: "ma'am, derecho po tayo sa kaliwa?" bwahahahaha! he couldn't have said it more clearly.

one favorite pastime, watch passing taxi cabs and make fun at their names. the owners' creativity in thinking up of such names is so astounding. taxi names such as "BARELY HERE..." then you'll see another taxi that says "BARELY THERE...". or you'll see "NOW" and "THEN" on separate occassions and places, and you'll wonder if it belongs to one company only. i haven't had the chance to take pictures of such taxi's since i don't own a digicam and my cam phone's pfft. but i captured one as i was on my way home one night...

finally had my quarterly haircut at Fix in G2. i was chatting w/ plee thru text and i told her that the junior stylist coloring my hair is actually cute. he doesn't look or act gay, pero kung dingga man sya, sobrang hindi halata. i told plee he's like a 19 year old Ronan Keating na maliit. hahaha ayos! di ko na nakunan ng pic, dyahe eh.

i was watching Hyperspace with Sam Neill on Discovery Channel a while ago. i'm not sure if this was taught to us way back in high school, but i just learned that earthquakes and volcanic eruptions are the effects of the nearest black hole to us. creepy... wala lang... been watching too much tv these days. sinusulit ang bakasyon! i mean, i can't recall how many times i've watched reruns I,Robot at Star Movies since last week. oh well...

as i was writing this entry down, our house began to smell and fill with smoke. at first i thought it was my PC, overworked. hehehe! i looked at the window just in time to see a firetruck rushing our way. already in panic mode, we (as in residents of A,B,C,D) rushed out to see where it's coming from (before making sure that our own units were not in flames). the fire originates from a house right behind our compound. good thing it was raining and fire trucks responded almost immediately to put out the fire. my dad quickly made his way there to look and maybe forewarn us if we already need to pack our stuff. thank God it's over now! my dad got back after a few minutes to inform us that the fire is out. the fire started from cheap christmas lights that went kaput. boo to cheap xmas lights! mag xmas tree na lang kayo na walang xmas lights!

our house being consumed by flames is my worst fear, and no matter how minimal this situation seems to be, i got the scare of my life! i prayed and prayed that our compound will be spared, and no one will get hurt during the fire. thank God ligtas kaming lahat, at walang nasaktan kahit na sa nasunugan! at salamat din na hindi natumpok yung buong bahay nila. salamat...

at buti na lang ang tatay ko volunteer firefighter!! *beaming with pride*

nope, all 3 plates are not mine. si yanee yung nsa kabila. then shared bread plate. whee i love buffet breakfasts!

yanee and i checked in at the New World Hotel Dec 4-5 for 2 days rest and relaxation. in other words, magpapaka-tamad kami ng todo todo! and of course to quietly celebrate my birthday. Jinky joined us for dinner and dessert at GB3, then was replaced by Rica around 12mn due to my persistence (na-B.I. ko tuloy. haha!). since restos and bars at GB3 close at midnight, we continued our drinks at the hotel lobby restaurant (open 24 hours, expensive, shet!). tapos pinag tripan muna namin si Winnie The Pooh sa lobby bago umuwi si Rica...
